I. Research activities:
· To establish a national-wide research and training program coordinated by King Saud University dedicated for bronchial asthma in Saudi Arabia, capable of attracting highly cited scientists and researchers in the field.
· To promote basic science, translational and clinical studies in asthma in Saudi Arabia.
· To identify genetic polymorphisms associated with asthma among Saudi asthmatics.
· To establish a well organized data base on asthma in Saudi Arabia, that could be used as a valuable resources for strategic planning at a national level for asthma management and control.
II. Training and education:
· Promote postgraduate training and degrees in basic sciences related to asthma research.
· Participate in postgraduate training for related health care specialties and promote their active participation in asthma research.
· Perform well designed courses for health asthma educators in order to maximize the care provided to asthmatic individuals.
· Organize continuous medical education activities including scientific meetings, symposia, and workshops, to update the health care provider on the latest development in asthma research.
III. State of the art patient care:
· Conduct highly specialized outpatient clinic for asthmatic patients with special emphasis on severe asthma.
· To increase the public awareness on asthma and to facilitate active community participation.
